UK: Roger Borer, former treasurer of the Institute of Refrigeration, has been named as this year’s winner of the Alan Moor Award.

The award, announced at last night’s ACR News Awards in front of 200 guests at London’s Chelsea Harbour Hotel, recognised Borer’s near 50 years in the refrigeration industry.

Joining Sainsbury’s in 1968, Borer went on to manage the retailer’s refrigeration requirements, real estate and wider facilities in a career spanning over 30 years. He took up the unpaid, honorary role of treasurer of the IoR in 2004, stepping down in 2017 to become executive officer of the Building Controls Industry Association, before finally retiring last year.

The Institute of Refrigeration was itself successful at the awards, winning Environmental Initiative of the Year for its Beyond Refrigeration project to lead users of cooling equipment towards net zero heating and cooling.
