UK: Panasonic air conditioning units have been included in stores recently opened by a well-known high-end cosmetic retailer at two of the UK’s largest shopping centres.

Working with experienced Kings-Langley-based installer, CER Inst, Panasonic supplied a range of equipment for the stores at Lakeside Retail Park and The Centre at Milton Keynes.

Four Panasonic ECOi 3-pipe VRF units were incorporated into the design for 24,000ft2 Lakeside store, which had a total capacity of 195kW. The ECOi units were specified with cassette, ducted fan coils and ERV units and additional features such as off-coil temperature control, Panasonic’s nanoe X filtration technology and its AC Smart Cloud centralised control.

Another important aspect in the design of the project, was the deployment of Tranquil air sock systems, which are fed from the Panasonic PAW 01 recuperator technology that has added DX coils for temperature control. This cost-effective fresh air and extract solution was fitted internally to the rear wall and avoided a costly route to the roof.

The inflatable sock system was dyed to the retailer corporate colours to blend in with the colour scheme of the store. This design was then repeated at the Milton Keynes site.

The Milton Keynes project had different challenges, being for a much larger retail space of 30,000ft2 and within a 1970s building. This time, three ECOi 2-pipe VRF systems were provided for the total project capacity of 270kW.

Like the Lakeside store, the system also included off-coil control, nanoe X technology and the Panasonic AC Smart Cloud control system.
