MALAYSIA: A trial of graphene-based nano-fluid in industrial chillers is said to have reduced energy consumption by up to 10%.
According to the Business Today website, the trial with the energy-efficient heat transfer nano-fluid was conducted by Sunway University in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, its business-driven Sunway Innovation Labs, and Daikin Refrigeration Malaysia.
The nano-fluid uses graphene nanoparticles that are highly stable in its suspended state. The nano-fluid is said to achieve better cooling performance and lower electricity consumption, while extending the life of HVAC equipment while keeping maintenance costs down.
Heat transfer is said to be almost 40% faster than traditional fluids, such as water or ethylene glycol.
