JAPAN: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has stopped shipments to Russia and donated €1m to support relief efforts in Ukraine.

In a press statement, the Japanese multinational electronics and electrical equipment manufacturing company said: “Due to the current logistics and finance situation, Mitsubishi Electric has suspended its shipments to Russia and is facing difficulties to continue its sales.”

It expressed “sincere condolences” to those affected by the situation in Ukraine, and added its hopes “for a return to peace in the region as soon as possible”.

In addition, Mitsubishi Electric said it had donated €1m to UNHCR, the UN refugee agency to extend humanitarian relief efforts towards those affected. The company also plans to make additional donations through its Socio-Roots Fund, a gift-matching programme which matches and doubles donations from employees.
