Lucy's Engineering Adventure

ASHRAE has published its first children’s picture book, developed by the ASHRAE Student Activities Committee to promote careers in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) and in engineering.

Titled Lucy’s Engineering Adventure, the book introduces children to the concepts behind HVAC&R and the built environment. It follows Lucy on her journey through an unfinished building one day when she accompanies her father to work.

Answering questions such as “Why don’t buildings fall down?” and “What lights them up?”, Lucy’s father explains each concept by comparing them to the human body.

It is written by Danielle Passaglia and illustrated by Gabriella Vagnoli, and costs US$10 for ASHRAE members or US$13.50 for non-members for a digital copy. It is available to purchase both digitally and in hard copy here.
