Early Morning Preparations
The day starts bright and early at 6:30 AM when I arrive at D & K Heating & Cooling’s headquarters. After checking the day’s schedule and loading up my service van with essential parts and tools, I review the maintenance requirements for today’s appointments.
First Call: Emergency AC Repair
My first stop is in La Vista, where a family’s air conditioning unit stopped working overnight. During Nebraska summers, this is considered an urgent call. After a thorough diagnostic check, I identify a failed capacitor – a common issue that can quickly leave homes without cooling.
Mid-Morning: New Installation
By mid-morning, I’m in Papillion for a scheduled AC installation. Working with my teammate, we carefully remove the old unit and prepare the area for the new system. This is precision work that requires attention to detail, from proper refrigerant charging to ensuring optimal airflow.
Afternoon Service Calls
The afternoon includes:
• Performing a routine maintenance check in West Omaha
• Replacing an air filter for a longtime customer
• Diagnosing a furnace issue for winter preparation
• Consulting with a homeowner about energy-efficient upgrades
End of Day
Before heading home, I complete service documentation, restock my van for tomorrow, and touch base with dispatch about the next day’s schedule. It’s satisfying knowing that I’ve helped keep several families comfortable in their homes today.
